ABSTRACT
This study was carried out to examine the role of twitter on covid-19 information dissemination to the Nigerian populace using respondents in APO DUSTE district in the federal capital territory Abuja. The study employed the survey descriptive research design. A total of 70 responses were validated from the survey. The study adopted the activity theory. From the responses obtained and analysed, the findings revealed that twitter played a major role in dissemination of information about the covid-19 pandemic in Nigeria. . This is as chi square test showed a positive significant remark (.922**) stating that twitter played a significant role in the dissemination of information on covid-19. The study recommend that Efforts must be made to to create more awareness on the covid-19 virus even on the elderly who have no access to android phones and those who are not on any social media platforms. There is the need for contents that comes out of social media especially twitter to be regulated on. When this is done it will help in addressing the issues of dissemination of wrong and unfiltered information on twitter. It is highly recommended that the NCDC disseminate information to the entire populace regularly so that twitter users will not disseminate unverified information about the virus. This will go a long way in other to avoid dissemination of unverified information on social media platforms(twitter).
